Minor Dropcash Update

In the past, when a payment was marked pending, Dropcash ignored the info and waited until it received a "Completed" message from PayPal. This caused some confusion for people wondering why they had received a payment in their PayPal account, but didn't see it reflected on their progress bar.

Now, when a "Pending" message is sent to Dropcash, it will email the fundraiser telling them the reason the payment is pending. I took the information from this page:

It appears that it's PayPal who might be the bigger problem: "EBay's PayPal hit by glitches in online payments".

Dropcash was down for a bit this morning after a server upgrade. If you missed a payment (payments to paypal still go through, but they might not get registered) tell me and I will fix it.

Dropcash API

I've added a new page to Dropcash where I link to a few plugins that have been written for Dropcash as well as other information developers and campaign organizers might need. The Dropcash API is not quite ready to be shown, but here are a few items that might help you in the meantime.

MovableType Dropcash Plugins

David Rayners wrote a MovableType Dropcash plugin and then held it for ransom through Dropcash until he raised $30. Though his PayPal account is new, and he couldn't accept the payments to reflect on his Dropcash page, he released his plugin as soon as he hit $30.

Chad Everett did something similar with a feature for his MT-Notifier plugin.

Dropcash XML Parser

This is cool: a simple PHP parser for Dropcash's XML feed. Dropcash Parser written by Matt Warren lets you display your Dropcash campaigns in any manner you wish.

Also, and I bet this wasn't obvious to people, but you can set up your own Dropcash page by copying the <form> tags and placing them on your own site. Keep the IPN information in-tact and PayPal will continue to ping the correct server. Change the "thank you" page variable to your own page and now nobody will even know you are running a Dropcash campaign.

XML

Access XML versions of your campaign page like so:

http://www.dropcash.com/campaign/stx/buy_me_a_skycar/xml/

Add "xml" to the end of a campaign URL.

Payments Not Showing Up

Some people have their PayPal accounts set to not auto-accept payments. (Someone want to tell me why? I have no idea why you'd want to do that.) You have to accept the payment at PayPal before it will show up on your progress bar.

Cookie Problem

Seems I messed up the cookies. If you're having problems signing in, please delete your Dropcash cookies and start over.
